Goebbels too agreed with the numerous complaints, especially from military sources (expressed for example in the report of General Georg Thomas reprinted in IMT, XXXVI, 028-EC) when he noted in his diary on 17th April 1942: 'We took the matter of arms and munitions production far too lightly and now we have to pay for if' (The Goebbels Diaries).
